its all down to a matter of taste ya know, dis one like dat and dat one likes dis …
despite the fact that a touch of comedy is really part of the dready art I liked the simplicity of a version of this with just the lionfish, a spliff in his mouth on a tan background, with its hint of japanese watercolour art
that piece had less to do with the sea and comedy I suppose and more to do with the fish itself and the the whimsy was very very subtle.
i loved this project though, the doing the art live and in person at Camana Bay, Cayman Islands, the complexity of doing the fish … the fact that I wanted it to look like a lionfish but still maintain the simplicity of dready art …
balance!
variations on a dready theme …

About Dready
Dready art is a 100% caribbean product: it was imagined here, designed here, tested here – in barbados, bvi, cayman, grenada and jamaica – we live here and are from here, our children were born here, I draw it here (mostly, cause sometimes I draw it when I’m traveling!). So despite what has become the kind of global reach of dready art we try to think of ourselves as a little caribbean company just doing our thing.
