this is a very cool dready …
there are lots of little elements in it that make it so … the colors for one; strong, vibrant, different …
the placement, the names and therefore the cadence of the headings that lead you to the comedy of the piece … St Tropez, St. Barts, Key West … Cows, instead of Cowes.
i love the race start in the top cell, love the colors of the hills and the sea and the little strokes of colour around the boats, the helicopter in the sky, the rays of sunlight in the far left …
the drama os racing in the second cell, the sense of movement of the boat in the third …
and of course the cows in the fourth; how they’re looking out at us as if surprised that we’ve made our way there as much as we’re surprised to be there and not looking at more boats … this is the touch of dreadyness!
the idea of the boat’s logo on the cow was suggested by the person that commissioned the art, a brilliant touch … sorry i didn’t think of it …
smooth sailin’!

About Dready
Dready art is a 100% caribbean product: it was imagined here, designed here, tested here – in barbados, bvi, cayman, grenada and jamaica – we live here and are from here, our children were born here, I draw it here (mostly, cause sometimes I draw it when I’m traveling!). So despite what has become the kind of global reach of dready art we try to think of ourselves as a little caribbean company just doing our thing.
