Cunninghams Lake Tahoe – original on canvas 36×50
this dready is for a house in, and a piece of art about, lake tahoe …
the clients had some things that they liked a lot … an urn by claudia clare, art, by chiura obata, of the area – the urn portrayed two sides of life, play and home, the obata art was of landscapes and trees with a certain colour palette; they wanted the california bear and a sense of the seasons.
and so the layers of winter, spring, summer and fall of the lake and the mountains and the hills and the colours …
and then in researching lake tahoe i came across these gorgeous ‘plans’ of the mines at the comstock load; drawings with colours of the various shafts going down, in plan form – and so the whole piece of art became about plans and contours and lines of interest from other research and images and the some of the lines of the comstock load which could also be colored ski runs …
i run on …
but it was cool.
love!
