dready art beach cabana – 30×20 – Limited Edition HD archival pigment print
on saturdays with my mother she would often take me to ‘the beach’, at morgans harbour, sit in a chair and sun herself, while i swam in the sea pool, drank lime squash from the bar – i still love me a club sandwich – and tried to come face to face with the barracuda that lived in the corner.
ocho ríos on a weekend… bonfires on colder beaches in my teenage years … watching the sun come up over helshire on holidays … sitting on the rocks outside my canadian bedroom watching the whales go by … miami and hollywood beach with friends, in my 20’s … sundays in cayman on the sand, in the water …
the beach plays an integral part in the life of any caribbean bwoy … fish fry, rum-punch, propinquity …
now i have the good fortune to live and love on a beach …
but in it all there’s always the need for a liccle piece of shade to cool out inna!
