dready ‘monsoon bicycle’ – 24×24 – limited edition print on canvas
i was looking for inspiration and max said ‘how about people under an umbrella’ … that sent me on a search of an aesthetic that culminated in what is really an ‘evolved’ version of the bikeafarians.
it’s been interesting ’cause in the past weeks i’ve been drawing classic and evolved dready’s one for one really, and it’s cool … they allow me to express my whimsy in different ways while still keeping to that idea of innate simplicity.
the ‘original’ bikeafarians was inspired by a little ride, a small moment, in little cayman – this one is more about a general vibe in life …
and rainy season is here, the storm clouds brewed up this morning; thunder and lightening and a fresh coolness on the beach …
last week a short downpour and the hot smell of the rain on scorched asphalt was delicious …
i love the tropical rain …
in Jamaica, in Belize, in Florida, when rainy season came, every afternoon raised clouds and showers but in cayman it’s less predictable … we’re too small and so we don’t really create our own weather systems but we lie at the centre of the movement of weather around the basin, the clash of air from off of the continents and the currents from the gulfs and seas and oceans … so rain happens!
rain!
