I forgot all that I knew of gravity …

Dready, Dready Art and Everything Dready dready2B500c2Bback2Bshot

dready art, I forgot all that i knew of gravity – 20×30 – limited edition print on canvas

the quote is a version of a line from a poem by rudy francisco called gravity …

the idea for the image started with a photo of a classic fiat 500 down a side street somewhere in italy; the street was empty, but beautiful, the light, the cobbles, the very silent emptiness …

and i love this car as an aesthetic, i’ve used it, a fiat 500, before – in a piece called ‘ciao mennagio’.

i wanted to put a couple in the scene and i was looking for a late 60’s style for them …

just that, two people, walking together … and in that simplicity of togetherness a joy and a lightness to their being …

it wasn’t about any history, it wasn’t about any personal moment, it was about an aesthetic i had seen and felt and how i wanted to translate that into a dready …

and i like the way they are leaving the scene, his hand already out as if they’re coming to see you …

peace an’ love!

About Dready

Dready art is a 100% caribbean product: it was imagined here, designed here, tested here – in barbados, bvi, cayman, grenada and jamaica – we live here and are from here, our children were born here, I draw it here (mostly, cause sometimes I draw it when I’m traveling!). So despite what has become the kind of global reach of dready art we try to think of ourselves as a little caribbean company just doing our thing.
