Fiat 500 classic
I spend a lot of time looking for inspiration in stuff and t’ings and taking photographs to work from …
i like old things, things that have been worn and patina-ed, dented and used …
a few years ago i went to an old plantation era stone cottage in jamaica called itopia; miss sally had used the age of the house, it’s dented and used and scraped and bruised-ness as part of the aesthetic … broken grout between tiles was left, the kettle was battered and old, where eons of levels of paint had been scraped off the walls it was left as if it were the colour itself …
all of these things were done on purpose, the house’s age was its decoration …
i felt instantly at ease in that house that day … it was familiar to me … many happy childhood memories in houses like that; the creak and rattle of old wood floors, the mossy blackness of old stone; ferns growing from the cracks and crevices of its join to another stone, the smell of old soil, of wet vegetations, the cracking paint on shutters …
peace …
