don’t ask me why, i dunno, it came to me as i fiddled with the elephant this morning …

some days things, moods, stuff, moves you in ways that are unexpected, the whimsy comes at you from some weird direction …

i’d been drawing scratch perry from before, had this idea about a series related to music … but, ya know, i just didn’t like where he was going – it was plain plain plain and SLP is anything but that, his beats, ‘riddims’ are the basis of so much of the rocksteady/reggae/dancehall of today – i kept wondering how i was going to make it pop, where the liccle bit of dreadyness was going to come from and then boooooom(!) this wildness … and i liked it, dunno what it’s an analogy of; if it is one it’s totally subliminal …
