dready art s ‘labrish, labrish, chat, chat’ – 28×10 – image
there’s a show on at the national gallery that’s about language of culture in art, and it sparked me into action … that and i needed, wanted to do an old school dready
stick figures and cliches …
and it was nice ’cause i went full old school and hand drew the idea first and then translated it into digital and expanded and expounded … completely new and fresh and old at the same time!
text in a dready’s nothing new, use it as dialogue, as asides, as statements (of intent) … i like it …
labrish … if you look it up on google you get what i think’s a pretty poor ‘translation’ …
yes, labrishing could be translated as gossiping, but it’s more than that, and there’s no negative connotations in it – no, it is more of an extended chat ’bout stuff and t’ings – you don’t have a quick labrish – so it is better translated as maybe a ‘good chin-wagging’.
on that note i should call my mother for a quick chat ’bout …
peace and love …
talk soon …
walk good …
