dready ‘the camp on the bayou’ – original on paper – 22×14
a family from atlanta asked me to do a dready for their father in louisiana, in new orleans … the only thing that i had to work with really, was that he liked fishing, loved being on his boat and that the louisiana water wasn’t the lovely blue of the caribbean…
so I started with that and the dready kinda evolved organically … I wanted to show some elements of what being on the water in the bayou is all about … I’ve been to baton rouge and beyond Louisiana in the verges of the bayou in mobile and biloxi …
big old trees and old man’s beard, spanish moss … and small wood cottages, shacks
At the time I didn’t know that the family had a holiday house, that had been destroyed in Katrina – but after the first draft the story of the house came up – this is the nice part about a dready, the interaction and the participation of the client … so ‘the camp’ snuck into the image.
coolness …
