dready art ‘mas milk’ – 36×36 – original commission on canvas
i believe in collaboration – it’s part and parcel of working on a commission because the client becomes part of the process …
but beyond even that, beyond the client, the input of others, others who can see the trees when you’re only seeing the forest is never wasted … the change of a colour, the shift of a perspective, the size of the line in the background that denotes a doorway the addition of names on a paper bag to help tell the story!
all these are part of the image before you that other people added to the process and the end result wouldn’t have been as good without it …
the creative process, at least the beginning of any creative process tends to be a solitary one; you sit at your desk and you draw, or write, or imagine … you’re alone in your head and alone with your tastes, your ideas, your prejudice, your personality and you’re trying to imbue both yourself and the reality of other things into whatever it is that you’re doing.
the collaboration of another voice, or two, adds the dimension of flinging in contrary ideas into mix, ideas that your prejudice, your bent, may not have brought to the table and that can be a very good thing.
out of many one people …
one love …
