when i went to pick this up from the framers the manager said; ‘this is a new look for you’ …

and I suppose, art’s like that too isn’t it, it’s like fashion … so that while staying within the vernacular that you’re known for you 1) have to stretch the boundaries and 2) be a little different each time …

i do about 30 commissions a year, imagine if they all looked the same … both from each client’s perspective and my own …

so I spend a lot of time thinking about how I can make something essentially dready, while telling the story of the client and finding a slightly different vibe every time.

this one was for a fashion designer – a challenge in itself to work within the precepts of her fashion and to find my own style within that without offending the skill with which she does her own art.
