dready FJ40 Landcruiser – 24×24 – Limited edition HD archival pigment print

I used to really like to read wilbur smith’s novels when i was young; they were set in africa, and full of adventure – between him and clive cussler and louis l’amour i managed to read my way through my teens and maybe nudging into my 20’s …

once reading an interview with wilbur smith, he said, essentially, ‘people think that the land rover conquered africa, but it didn’t, it was the toyota landcruiser … and the peugot 505 estate wagon …’

I drive a land rover but only because I don’t drive an FJ40 – they are both such incredibly cool looking, simple and utilitarian vehicles … and if I could have both, bwoy, i would …

so, i’d been planning to draw one … mostly because in my close family there are land rover people and there are landcruiser people and sometimes a little cross-over in between and there’s always chatter about which is whose … and then a guy named blair wanted me to draw one and then i saw a pic of one on a beach in sri lanka that was cool, and then in the bush in costa rica – there used to be tons of them in latin america – I just kept seeing photos of them all over the place …

so voila …

and bless up …

About Dready

Dready art is a 100% caribbean product: it was imagined here, designed here, tested here – in barbados, bvi, cayman, grenada and jamaica – we live here and are from here, our children were born here, I draw it here (mostly, cause sometimes I draw it when I’m traveling!). So despite what has become the kind of global reach of dready art we try to think of ourselves as a little caribbean company just doing our thing.
