dready … back to the scene of the crime

coach house, good hope, trelawny, jamaica

i’ve spent a lot of time at good hope over the years, is an amazing place; lovely beautiful, tranquil, verdant, vibezy …

who wouldn’t want to try and draw this, eh … so had this solo show in jamaica and drew it, hung it … love it.

dready art ‘the coach house’ – 20×30 – limited edition archival pigment print

when i drew this, the coach house was a stand alone building, full of bedrooms, the grille door in teh middle held a long table, some scattered chairs; they used it as a dorm for kids camps, somebody lived in one of the bedroooms, it had a small kitchen to the back … now its been refurbished, beautifully, and out back a disappearing edge pool,  a stand alone modern kitchen dining building that runs perpendicular, connected to the old house by a covered breezeway so as not to interfere with its lovely georgian-ness … all creating a 6 bedroom holiday villa … i wanna stay there.

yesterday we walked from down bottom, by the business end of things, at the end of the day – I’d hoped we would catch the sunset from up top, but it was a cloudy evening; the light though, fucking lovely –  up the hill round the back of the great house, back down through the gardens and down all the way to the river … as we were leaving the great house area, i stopped just as the drive ran down the hill, turned and snapped a pic back up the hill of the coach house.
