dready art ‘jerk’ – 40×24 – limited edition HD archival pigment print
years ago, in an art class, i was asked to paint a childhood memory and i painted, in oils and pastels, a floating pig in a background of roiling purple and green, dark and ominous … but the pig was pink and fat … it was called ‘the pig of ancient memory’ – and it was just that; literally one of my first memories …
we had just moved to Kingston from the farm in yallahs, grants pen, which had just become ‘Southhaven development’ … I was 2 and 1/2 ish; I don’t remember grants pen … but on what was probably the first day in kingston, a pig, in the bush, a big pig in a big dark bush, at the new house, startled me and that, that is my first memory as a human.
One of my kids has the art hanging on a wall …
anyhow so the pig of ancient memory when I came to fit it into the dready pantheon kept its pinkness and its round-ness …
but dready ness is about whimsy, eh, so the pig of ancient memory became ‘jerk’ – I love jerk pork!
eat mor chik’n …
Jerk …
