I don’t really ‘fish’ – what I mean is I go fishing, but on a rare occasion: I might go in a river, on a lake, out at sea, and I know how to fish, I know about fishing, but I don’t ‘fish’ – and so there isn’t really a pantheon of dready fish …

But, I have drawn a few and I think they’re pretty cool – starting with the dready ‘Lionfish’ … which stood alone for a long long time.

Then someone was buying the lionfish and wanted something else to fit the wall, “do you have any other fish?” … and I like the shape of Jack’s of Permit (they’re cooler than bone fish) and so I drew a Jack and I liked the Jack alot – and I drew it in the same vague style as the lionfish …

And then someone asked me to do this yellowfin tuna for a company ‘logo’ website banner and so now we had 3 …

a few things about dready; the whimsy, the surprises, the red yellow and green … what do you do when you can’t surprise somebody with a underwater goat in a fish scene!

but if you look carefully, hidden in the distance, is a shadow …

and then, I like the saying, ‘fish or cut bait’ …
