Dready – Catamaran

Dready, Dready Art and Everything Dready dready catamaran semi final 36x14 28 copy 1
dready art ‘the creek and chekmate’ – dyptich 36×14 each – original commission on canvas

the scope of a sailboat makes it hard to fit comfortably in a piece of art and still get detail unless it’s big big big … the sail’s too tall, the boats are often long(!), and so decided to do this commission in 2 parts …

I don’t sail often but I got the opportunity to join in on the cruiser racing a few weeks ago, sailing on a catamaran … how comfy was that! -when I say I got the opportunity to join in that really means that I sat around and watched the sailors sail – I’ve joined in before on mono-hull boats that lean over one way or the other when you sail, where shade is at an impossible premium, where things are always poking into you or making you uncomfortable, where you can t put out the snacks for fear they’ll spill … this, this was not that!

comfort, shade and a nice sea breeze …

bless …

About Dready

Dready art is a 100% caribbean product: it was imagined here, designed here, tested here – in barbados, bvi, cayman, grenada and jamaica – we live here and are from here, our children were born here, I draw it here (mostly, cause sometimes I draw it when I’m traveling!). So despite what has become the kind of global reach of dready art we try to think of ourselves as a little caribbean company just doing our thing.
