What is Dready?

Dready began as a hand-drawn line-art character — a doodle that grew into a distinct Caribbean art style. It was created by Jamaican-born, Cayman Islands-based artist Shane Aquart, and has since grown from that original character into original paintings, limited-edition prints, and custom commissions inspired by island life across the Caribbean. Every piece on this site is part of that same Dready style.

Dready art is a 100% caribbean product: it was imagined here, designed here, tested here – in barbados, bvi, cayman, grenada and jamaica – we live here and are from here, our children were born here, I draw it here (mostly, cause sometimes I draw it when I’m traveling!). So despite what has become the kind of global reach of dready art we try to think of ourselves as a little caribbean company just doing our thing.

I said to a man the other day ‘whether it’s an emotional or financial transaction, all the parties involved should feel some joy from the process … that includes the chain forward and backward …’ we’re gonna try and live up to that idea.
