This and several other nudes were hanging in a gallery in Jamaica, and I was chatting to one of the owners and she said ‘a friend was asking why you dont have any nudes of men’ … ‘I said I do, but, ya know, for most people you can get away with a nude of a woman, but the nude of a man people find hard to absorb, hard to show. I’ll send you one.’ … and she looked at the male nude and said, ‘that would be hard to show’.

We are so inured to female nudity but bwoy, the sight of flacid penis!

drawing a nude for me is an exercise in restraint how do you create a pleasing aesthetic without using too much information, without drawing too much.
